CUSTOMER REVIEWS
Being a big man (60" waist) folding chairs were something I never even considered until I stumbled across the Alps Mountaineering King Kong chair. Didn't really believe the claims it made, but decided to take a chance and buy one any way. Now I'm purchasing my second and maybe third because past history has pretty much proved that if something is really good and useful for a big man - they will stop making it. And this chair is really good.
Rock steady, sturdy and easy to use. An earlier reviewer mentioned it was not easy to get out of, but I found that not to be so. I put both hands on the rear legs and shift my weight front and then put my hands on top of the front legs and easily lift myself out of the chair. The only change I would suggest is that the carry bag be a little bigger. The chair has a lot of canvas to put into the bag. It does fit, but can be a bit of a chore sometimes trying to get it all in the bag. A small complaint and to be honest, hardly worth mentioning. I would buy this chair even if it did not come with a bag - it is that good.

This thing is a Monster! The tubing walls are about 4 times thicker than average chairs and it sits like a throne. I think King Kong AND Faye Wray would fit in it at the same itme. The front tube supports make a huge difference in how sturdy it is. I'm a big guy and I can sprawl out in it and dangle a leg over the side easily.

Even if you aren't an 800-pound gorilla, this chair is still for you! I literally went to EVERY sporting goods store in the Northeast Ohio area and tried EVERY make and model of camping chair at any price. Even the $40 chairs at Dick's Sporting Goods can't compare to this chair. If you have anyone that is more than 250 pounds, you want this chair! It is very, very sturdy and has very durable fabric. It is a bit heavy, so don't get it if you are trying to pack light or can't carry much around on your shoulder/back. It does have two straps on the carrying case so that you can carry it like a backback. I bought this for my husband who is in excess of 300 pounds. In most chairs, he felt like it was going to flip when he tried to get out of it. He also felt like they would rip over time. Well, this one does NOT have that issue. Best part is the arm rests are adjustable so you can raise and lower them to wherever feels the best. It's definitely worth the little bit of extra money to have this great chair that should last a lifetime. Only complaint is it doesn't say KING KONG anywhere on it! :(
